For banks today, it’s more than staying alive. Digital has become the new oxygen. So it comes as no surprise that Polaris Bank has launched a new banking app for its customers. The bank is offering 50% off on transfer fees; perhaps the best part for their customers.
The discount on transfer fees will run for 30 days after download and sign up on the app. To make porting from the old app to the new one easy for customers, the bank has setup a support portal. It will help branches and other support teams to assist customers with first-level and second-level support.
Where will the Polaris bank app rank?
Not many Nigerian banks have got it right with their banking apps in terms of features, user experience and functionality. It will certainly be interesting to know what customers think of the new app.
Making it mean more
It should mean more than a typical promo marketing strategy. What happens when the discount is over? It’s true that driving app downloads is difficult hence the 50% off strategy. However, the new app itself should be the marketing strategy, and it has to be spot on. All that huge discount on transfer fees will be wasted resources if the app is not up to scratch.
With time we will certainly know what everyone thinks of the app, however, the onus is on Polaris Bank to create a kickass app. It’s an opportunity to launch the brand and erase that notion of a ‘failed bank’ created in the minds of people after Skye Bank failed.
